2019-2021 Retiring In-Colors

 I will truly hate to see these colors go! They are some of my favorites, especially Rococo Rose and Pretty Peacock. But I regularly use all of them. So I don't want to run out of cardstock or ink for any of these! 

The 5 soon-to-be-retiring colors are

How to Make a Cute, Simple, Quick Easter Basket

 Need a cute little something for a friend, co-worker, child, grandchild or neighbor? I'm going to give you the instructions to make a cute little Easter basket that you can fill with chocolate candy, Cadbury eggs, marshmallow chicks, a gift card or whatever you'd like. It is very easy to make.

You will need a 6x6 piece of patterned paper with coordinating sides and an 8 1/2 x 1/2 inch strip of coordinating cardstock for the handle. Then you'll want some embellishments for the side. 

Take the 6x6 piece of patterned paper and score it at 2" and at 4". Give it a quarter turn and score again the same way. You now have what looks like a tic tac toe board. 

 

 

 

 

 

On one side, cut along the scored line vertically to the first horizontal score
mark. Do both vertical  lines on that side. The go to the opposite side and do the same thing. I then like to round the four corners but that is optional.

 

 

 

 

 

 

You're now ready to form your basket. Crease all score lines really well. Decide which side of the patterned paper you want on the outside. Fold the two outside pieces in toward the center with the flap on the inside. Once you have it positioned the way you want, secure the flaps with a glue dot. Do the same to the other side.

Attach the handle inside the flap on one side with a glue dot then do the same on the other side.I then take multipurpose glue and secure the flaps on both sides.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now you're ready to embellish your basket. I attached 'Happy Easter' on one side with dimensionals. On the other side you can decorate any way you like. I used a chick, some eggs and a flower border that I diecut. I finished it off with a red bow.

Pastel Deviled Eggs

I saw these on Pinterest and just had to try them. When I went to make them I discovered that I didn't have any red food coloring :-(   So, the eggs are all blue and green!
I boiled the eggs, cooled and peeled them, cut them in half and removed the yolks. I had prepared several cups of water and food coloring (I didn't use the vinegar). I placed several halves in each cup of colored water and soaked them for an hour or so. I probably would have left them longer except it was already late and I needed to get the eggs done and go to bed. I removed the egg halves and drained them on paper towel. I then used the following recipe to devil the yolks...

• 13 hard boiled eggs, peeled
• 1/3 – 1/2 cup mayonnaise (Hellmans or Best Foods)
• 1-2 teaspoons cider vinegar
• 1-2 teaspoons dill pickle juice
• 1-2 teaspoons yellow mustard
• Paprika for garnish

After preparing the filling, I used my Pampered Chef  Easy Decorator to pipe the filling into the halves and arranged them on a doily-covered tray. They were a big hit at our dinner the next day! So fun!!

ONLY IN TEXAS!!

Guess what! Last Monday morning it got up to 70 degrees, then by 8:30 Monday evening it was snowing like crazy!! We had over 3 inches of snow! Today it is back up to 70 and tomorrow there is another chance of snow! CRAZY, HUH!

What a busy month lies ahead of us! But a fun month. We'll get to spend time with all of our favorite kids!! We leave Friday to head to San Antonio. Our sweet 7 yr. old granddaughter Bethany will be baptized Sunday and we wouldn't miss getting to share in that. Then the next weekend I will head to East Texas with Teri (our Denton daughter)and a group of my 'young' friends for a weekend of scrapbooking! WooHoo!! Then the next weekend is Easter. The choir will participate in all 3 services Easter morning at church then we'll head over to Teri and Darren's to watch Kaytlyn and Riley hunt Easter eggs and have lunch with their family (including Teri's brother Tim and Darren's mom Marcia) Then the next weekend I'm off to another retreat - BSF Retreat - a wonderful weekend of worship and inspiration.
