Stampin' Up's Color & Contour

 Today I'm using a set that has been around for awhile but will be going away in June. So I thought I would show some samples and use it to demonstrate a card for you.

First let's look at this set. The stamps are two step stamping so you have outline stamps and shading stamps for the flowers. It also has a leaf stamp and a splatter stamp. The sentiments are especially meaningful...

And while the stamps are great, the stars of the show are the dies! The five background dies can be used individually or layered, and the scallop die creates a beautiful border. The flower dies, of course, coordinate with the stamp set. 

Here are some samples using the stamps and the dies.

 This card uses the largest die as a background. The 3 flowers are stamped in Starry Sky, Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party. The cardbase is Tahitian Tide.

This card has the new Country Gingham Designer Series Paper on the front and a Mint Macaron base. I used the scallop die to create the card front. The 3 flowers are Mint Macaron, Fresh Fresia, and Bermuda Bay.

This card is mounted on a Sweet Sorbet cardbase. Soft Succulent and Basic White are the two diecut layers. The flower stem is stamped in Soft Succulent then the shading stamp is Sweet Sorbet. Soft Succulent ribbon is tied around the top layer. "And in better days ahead" is stamped on the inside on Basic White cut with the largest die.

These last three are the same design but using different color combos.The first one is Calypso Coral and Mossy Meadow. The second is Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent, The third is Sweet Sorbet and Granny Apple Green. Which do you like best?

December Monthly Stamp Club

Little Treat Box

These little treat boxes are perfect for a small 'love' gift or if someone just needs a little 'hug'! They are also great for Halloween treats for someone special!

This box was made using 2020-2022 In Color DSP, 2020-2022 In Color Glimmer Paper, and Party Parakeet cardstock. The embellishments are from the Bewitching bundle and the Best Witches stamp set. 

The box is easy to construct. It just requires a little scoring, cutting and folding. 

The dotted lines are the score lines. The shaded areas are the cut areas. After you cut thetwo small rectangles off the left end, then just trim the remaining piece at an angle to create the tab. At the two center score lines, cut each little square up to the score line, then trim at an angle to create the tabs. At the right end, trim out the large rectangle then angle trim the two remaining tabs.  The You Tube video will show all the scoring and trimming in detail.

The supplies used are Parakeet Party cardstock, 2020-2022 In Color DSP, 2020-2022 In Color Glimmer Paper, Basic White cardstock, Label Me Lovely punch, Witch Hat Builder punch, Best Witches stamp set, Black twine, Red Rhinestones, Starry Sky ink. 

These little boxes can be used for a variety of occasions. This box is to encourage someone who is going through a rough time.

The supplies used for this one are Basic White cardstock, Texture Chic DSP, Petal Pink cardstock, Cottage Rose stamps & dies, Seasons of Chic dies, Distressed Gold DSP, Soft Succulent cardstock, Brass Butterflies.

Floral Squares...April Monthly Class to Go!!

 The 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is quickly coming to a close. Featured in the April Class to Go is a set that will be retiring May 2. 

The Monthly Class to Go features a stamp or die set and card kits made with them. For $35 this month you will get the Floral Die set plus 4 card kits using these dies. You also receive a PDF tutorial with full color photos of each card.

Here are the cards in this Class to Go.

 This card uses one of the floral dies. The card base is Basic Black, the mat is Basic White and the decorative mat is from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper pack cut with a Contour die. The DSP behind the floral piece is also from this DSP. The floral piece is cut from Basic Black and the flowers are from the DSP. The bow is Bumblebee Gingham ribbon which is soon retiring. The gems are Pearl Basic Jewels.

This card uses another of the floral dies. The cardbase is Basic White, the DSP is from Heart & Home DSP. The cardstock is Basic Gray for the floral frame and the flowers are Polished Pink cardstock. The card is finished off with Polished Pink ribbon and a Polished Pink gem in the center. 

 This card uses all four of the floral squares and retiring Rainbow Glimmer DSP. The base is Basic White, the mat is Basic Black and the floral squares are cut from Basic White, backed with the Glimmer paper. Pearl Basic Jewels finish off the card.

This last card demonstrates the All Squared Away stamp set that coordinates with the Floral Squares dies. The stamp set has 4 background stamps but I only used 3 here. They are cut at 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" to fit snuggly behind the diecut squares which measure 2" x 2". They are stamped in Garden Green and placed on a Petal Pink card base. The Soft Succulent ribbon backs the sentiment from the All Squared Away stamp set which is stamped in Garden Green  onto Basic White with each end punched with the Lovely Labels pick a punch. The label measures 4 1/4" x 3/4".

Sweet Conversations Tic Tac Toe card

 This tic tac toe card caught my eye on Pinterest and then I saw how to make it on a YouTube video and had to give it a try. I was using my Sweet Talk Suite to make some cards for a monthly class-to-go and although I didn't include this card in my Monthhly Class to Go, it was a fun 'additional' card to make!

The Sweet Conversations stamp set includes an 'x' stamp and an 'o' stamp, so of course we need a Tic Tac Toe board! I decided to use one of the heart dies instead of the 'o' stamp.

Here is the stamp set and the dies. You really need the dies - I had a hard time creating a card with just the stamp set although this card could have been made just using the 'o' instead of hearts. 😉

You need the following supplies

Basic White card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4"). 

Basic White piece 4 1/4" square and a scrap for the sentiment

Real Red piece 4 1/2" square and a piece of Real Red scrap to die cut 5 hearts. 

Basic Black scrap to mat the sentiment

DSP to go behind the board...I wanted black and white so had to use a piece from a retired SAB Beautifully Penned set. There is some more black & white dsp coming out soon though!

Black Memento ink, 

Black embossing powder

Tear N Tape 

heat gun.

Using a ruler, divide the 4 1/4" square Basic White piece into a grid. I penciled in the lines measured      1 3/8" from one side then 1 3/8" from the opposite side. Rotate one turn and do the same again. 

Then place your Tear N Tape strips over the two lines going one direction. Trim the tape to the edge of the cardstock. Burnish really well then take the top off the tape. Place the Tear N Tape strips onto the remaining two lines, burnish, remove the tops and trim. 

Now you're ready to add the embossing powder. I use a small paint brush to remove stray specks of embossing powder. Use your heat tool to melt the powder. When you finish this part, you should have this...

Use the slimmer heart die and cut 5 hearts. Place the hearts where you want them so that you know where to stamp your 'x's. Attach your hearts with liquid glue.

Stamp your sentiment and banner the ends. Adhere to the black piece, trim to leave a small edge and banner the ends of the black as well. Attach the sentiment across the red 'x's with dimensionals.

Attach the DSP to the front of the card base. Attach the white piece to the Real Red square and adhere to the card front.

Your card is finished and you have a really cute Tic Tac Toe card to give to someone special.

Pinwheel Tower Card

   

Here are the photos of the Pinwheel  Tower card that I demonstrated on my Facebook Live this morning. The video is also be available on YouTube.

The measurements for the Pinwheel Tower Card are:

    Cardstock for base  6 1/4 x 4 1/4,  score along the 6 1/4 side   2 3/4, 3 3/4, 4 3/4, 5 3/4

    Same color cardstock  2 3/4 x 4 1/4 (cut 3)

    DSP  2 5/8 x 4 1/8  (cut 4)

    Coordinatng DSP   1 5/8 x 4 1/8  (cut 4)

    Extra Basic White cardstock

You'll also need some image stamps and/or diecuts and 2-3 word or sentiment stamps, bone folder, liquid glue.

Written directions are just too difficult to understand so you will be much better off watching the tutorial. It makes it all so much easier when you actually see it.

Zany Zebras Fun Fold Card

This cute card is so fun to make. I can't wait to try it with other stamp sets! 

You start with a regular card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) and score at 4 1/4. Crease your fold. You will also need two 5 1/4 x 4 pieces of Basic White cardstock and another scrap piece big enough to stamp the first zebra on. In addition, you will need a 5 1/4 x 2" piece of dsp of your choice.

Start with the black cardbase. On the front flap, the right edge, mark 2" from the bottom then make a diagonal cut from the 2" mark to the center score line.

To create the 2nd fold line, score the front at 2 1/4" and fold. Now you should have your Z fold.

You will have 2 Basic White pieces, 4 x 5 1/4 each. One stays whole for the right inside. On the 2nd white piece, mark up 1 3/4" and cut from the mark across to the upper corner. 

Set the top piece aside as a scrap.

On the remaining piece measure and mark 1 7/8" from each side. Trim the two pieces at the 1/7/8 marks, leaving a 1/4" piece of white that is trash. The two pieces will be your two remaining sides.

The last thing to cut is your 2 x 5 1/4 piece of Designer Series Paper,.  Mark this piece 3 3/4" from the bottom on the right side. Cut from the mark to the corner. You may have to trim this just a tiny bit more to leave an even space on each side.

Now it's time to put your card together. On the spare white scrap, stamp the reared up zebra and fussy cut. Also stamp two of the small party hats. Using Blender Pens or Stamp n Write markers, color them with your choice of colors. These will need to be fussy cut too!

On the larger 4 x 5 1/4 white, stamp in Black Memento the zebra looking over his shoulder to the far right side. He should show completely when the card is closed. Stamp the grass in Evening Evergreen under him. Use a mini dimensional to place a hat on his head. To the far left stamp the second sentiment - It's Time to Celebrate. And directly above the zebra stamp Happy Birthday.

Stamp the zebra looking straight ahead onto the center white piece. Add the grass under him.  Stamp the sentiment Kick Up Your Heels agove him. Attach the party hat with a mini-dimensional.

Attach the rearing zebra that you fussycut with dimensionals to the front piece of white. Stamp the stars with Pumpkin Pie 2-3 times from above the nose to the edge. Attach this piece to the front. 

Fold the card closed and stamp a few more stars across above Happy Birthday.

Last, add the piece of dsp to the background and you are finished!!

2019-2021 Retiring In-Colors

 I will truly hate to see these colors go! They are some of my favorites, especially Rococo Rose and Pretty Peacock. But I regularly use all of them. So I don't want to run out of cardstock or ink for any of these!

How to Make a Cute, Simple, Quick Easter Basket

 Need a cute little something for a friend, co-worker, child, grandchild or neighbor? I'm going to give you the instructions to make a cute little Easter basket that you can fill with chocolate candy, Cadbury eggs, marshmallow chicks, a gift card or whatever you'd like. It is very easy to make.

You will need a 6x6 piece of patterned paper with coordinating sides and an 8 1/2 x 1/2 inch strip of coordinating cardstock for the handle. Then you'll want some embellishments for the side. 

Take the 6x6 piece of patterned paper and score it at 2" and at 4". Give it a quarter turn and score again the same way. You now have what looks like a tic tac toe board. 

 

 

 

 

 

On one side, cut along the scored line vertically to the first horizontal score
mark. Do both vertical  lines on that side. The go to the opposite side and do the same thing. I then like to round the four corners but that is optional.

 

 

 

 

 

 

You're now ready to form your basket. Crease all score lines really well. Decide which side of the patterned paper you want on the outside. Fold the two outside pieces in toward the center with the flap on the inside. Once you have it positioned the way you want, secure the flaps with a glue dot. Do the same to the other side.

Attach the handle inside the flap on one side with a glue dot then do the same on the other side.I then take multipurpose glue and secure the flaps on both sides.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now you're ready to embellish your basket. I attached 'Happy Easter' on one side with dimensionals. On the other side you can decorate any way you like. I used a chick, some eggs and a flower border that I diecut. I finished it off with a red bow.

Bouquet of Hope February Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - from Casual to Artfully Avid!

 This month's Paper Pumpkin offered beautiful cards to reach out to those around us who are struggling. And there are plenty of those, aren't there. In fact, you may well be one of those too. If you are, please comment and I'd love to pray for you and send you a card.

 

Paper Pumpkin is an an inclusive box of goodies that come to you every month - project ready! Most of them are cards but sometimes it will be a 3D project of some kind. These can always be turned into cute cards if you don't need that many 3D projects. 

 

These are the 3 original Paper Pumpkin cards contained in this month's kit. All supplies to complete 9 cards, including cute matching envelopes, are included.

 They're beautiful, aren't they. You may want to make 9 of these cards. But sometimes we want something a little different as well. So we can take the supplies and create alternative cards or projects.

This first alternative card is a very simple card using only the stamps and the ink included in the kit, and 3 of the sequins, also in the kit. Great card for casual stampers!

This card uses a Basic White card base, the flower stamp and the Mossy Meadow inkspot. You simply stamp all the way around the outer edge of the card base. Then using a 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 piece of white cardstock and the smaller flower image, the tiny leaf and a sentiment, you stamp the center part. Mount that on a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of colored cardstock, adhere that to the center of your stamped base with dimenionals and finish it off with 3 of the sequins. Now you have a really nice card to bless someone with.

I stepped up this next card just a little bit by adding a piece of designer series paper in one corner (mine is cut with a Stitched So Sweetly die) and stamping your flower bundle in the opposite corner. The card base I used is Flirty Flamingo. The greeting is stamped on white cardstock and bannered on one end. 3 sequins finish off this card.

The next two cards are similar in that I again added a piece of designer series paper, one cut again with a Stitched So Sweetly dies, the other cut with an Ornate Layer die. On the first one I stamped the image with a different stamp set - To A Wild Rose - because I wanted a larger image. I also used the die cut greeting that is included in the kit and added the sequins to finish if off.

 On the second card, in addition to the designer series paper and the sentiment, I added one of the flower diecuts in the kit to the upper right corner and finished the card off with Old Olive ribbon.

The next two cards are for the more avid stamper. This one is stepped up just a bit more in that I added some greenery that I cut using the Wrapped Flowers dies in Mossy Meadow caredstock.

 

I used Bumblebee card base and a slightly smaller piece of designer series paper. The white sentiment piece is cut with the Stitched Rectangles and stamped with a sentiment from Tasteful Touches.  The greeting is stamped in Just Jade. Again I used one of the larger diecut pieces from the kit and added the additional greenery tucked under the top. I added one Just Jade dot from the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots. 

I love the way the colors on the diecut piece coordinates with the paper from the Field of Flowers dsp  (Sale-A-Bration)

Last is a card for the more artfully avid stamper, using the card base from the kit as well as the gold stamped vellum piece. I cut a piece of designer series paper with the Ornate Layeers die and popped that up with dimensionals. I cut greenery using the Wrapped Flowers dies and also used a couple of pieces from the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty paper offered in the Christmas catalog (no longer available 😞) The sentiment uses a diecut piece but you could also use one of the sentiment pieces included in the kit (I did that on another one just like this). The gem is an Irridescent Pearl and the ribbon is Glittered Organdy ribbon.. If you didn't have the Forever Gold pieces, you could always just add one or two more diecut greenery pieces or cut a couple from a different color of green to add some interest.

I hope that you can see that the Paper Pumpkin kit can be used in many different ways. Plus once you have used up all of your consumables from the kit, you still have the stamp set and the ink spot to continue using!
