Stampin' Thursday Mystery Fun Fold Card

Stampin Thursday January 26, 2023

It's time for another Mystery Card.  If you haven't watched the video yet, you can watch it on Facebook or on You Tube

***If you watch it clue by clue, please note that Clue 8 should also include to add the 1" x 4" DSP to the front of the belly band before adding anything else. That was accidentally left out!

I always post Clue #1 listing all the supplies a day or two early so that you can be ready to complete your card clue by clue!
Here are the supplies that are needed to make this Mystery Fun Fold card.

Clue #1
Cardstock (funfold)  4 1/4" x 11", scored at 3", 5 1/2", 8" and 9 1/2"
Cardstock (same color) 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Coordinating Cardstock  4" x 5 1/4: and 1" x 11" (for bellyband)
DSP 2 panels 1 1/4" x 4", each a different pattern
DSP 2 different coordinating panels  2 1/8" x 4", another piece 1" x 4" (same pattern or coordinating)
Basic White  1 piece 2 1/2" x 4, a label for sentiment on front, and scraps for stamped images
A variety of stamped & diecut or fussy-cut pieces that can be used on various layers
Ribbon 8" if desired

Once you have gathered these supplies, then follow the video clue by clue to make the card. Be sure, though, at Clue #8 to add the 1"x4" piece of DSP to the front of the belly band!

If you need a little extra help, the photos below will add a little clarity.

The fun fold portion in Clue #2 will look like the Blackberry Bliss piece in the photo. You can clearly see the valley, mountain, valley, mountain folds here.
Then this piece will be adhered to the matted piece in Clue #5. (below)

The remainder of the clues are pretty straightforward. At the end of the clues, hopefully your card will look something similar to the samples below...

-This one is made using a Sale-A-Bration DSP, Favored Flowers. The images are fussy-cut from the DSP so there are no stamps or dies used on this one. The cardstocks are Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral.

Next is a sample made using the Friendly Gnomes set and the Country Gingham DSP. The cardstocks are Mint Macaron and Balmy Blue. The gnomes are colored with Mint Macaron, Balmy Blue and Petal Pink, with a touch of Sweet Sorbet. The nose and shoes of the 'man gnome' are colored with the SU500 blend. The grid piece and some of the grass is cut from the new Dry Brushed Metallic 12 x 12 DSP.

This last sample is mad.e using the Seaside Bay bundle and DSP. The cardstock is Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy. The images are diecut from the Seaside Bay DSP, Dry Brushed Metallic DSP, Coastal Cabana cardstock, and Brushed Metallic Gold DSP. Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls are added as well.

If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments and I'll check back periodically. I hope you will make your own version of this Fun Fold card and I'd love it if you posted a photo in the comments.

Waterfall Fun Fold

Today on Stampin' Thursday I demonstrated a Waterfall Fun Fold card - one that can be either simple or more detailed. I find that using a template for my fun fold cards makes recreating them much easier.

This is what my template for the Waterfall Fun Fold looks like. All of the cut dimensions are recorded on the top piece. The template is a sample of the construct of the card. I keep all my fun fold templates in an old Paper Pumpkin box, easy to access at any time!

The cutting sizes are...

Colored cardstock base   11" x 4 1/4", scored at 1 1/2", 3 3/4", 6 3/4", 8 1/4"

Once you have scored these locations, then fold your cardbase 'valley, mountain, valley, mountain'. This is demonstrated on the video if you're not familiar with these terms.

Cut 2  colored cardstock  3 1/2" square
Basic White cardstock 3 3/8" square
Colored cardstock  4 1/4" x 2 3/8"
Basic White   3 1/4" x 1 7/8"

Now you have the basic pieces cut to construct your Waterfall Fun Fold card.

At this point the easiest way to learn how to make this card is to watch the video and make your card along with it. In fact, I would recommend you make yourself a template first without using any additional products. The video, however, will include some stamping and adding Designer Series Paper and die cuts. You could do as much or as little as you desire.

Here are the samples that I showed on the video.

This first sample is made using pieces from Seaside Bay along with the coordinating Designer Series Paper. The Designer Series Paper is cut in place of the Basic White cardstock.

This sample is the one that I built on the video. It involves a little bit of stamping, a few die cuts and Designer Series Paper.

I hope that you will give this Waterfall card a try...it's really a lot of fun and can be done in so many different ways! Let me know if you have questions. Comment below or e-mail me at suzyzoo@verizon.net

Stand Alone DSP

Do you love making cards but just don't think you have the tools to make a pretty card? Let me show you how you can make beautiful cards with just some cardstock and Designer Series Paper! You may also need some embellishments like ribbon or gems.

The things that I feel are necessary to have when you don't have a Cut and Emboss machine or any dies or stamps...

*Choose the Designer Series Paper you want to use and look at the colors used in that paper

*Cardstock in one or two of those coordinating colors. You may also just use Basic White.

*A good pair of snips and a paper trimmer

*A good set of sentiment stamps and an acrylic block for those

*A label punch (OPTIONAL - you could just hand trim your sentiments)

*Coordinating ribbon and gems, dots or jewels (OPTIONAL but I think you'll want them)

    *Black Memento ink

    *Envelopes

That's it. Get ready to create!! With these supplies, you should be able to make dozens of cards!

My Facebook Live today demonstrated making 4 cards. Here are the supplies and measurements for each one.

This card uses the Dainty Flowers DSP which is a Sale-A-Bration $50 item. The cardbase is Rich Razzleberry cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 5 1/4". The mat is Highland Heather    3 1/4" x 5 1/4". The DSP is cut at 3" x 5". The YouTube video will describe how to get the most out of this sheet of DSP. The ribbon is two pieces, one cut at 4" to wrap around the card and secured on the back. The other piece is app. 3" and just tied in a loose single knot. The sentiment is from another Sale-A-Bration item, Beautifully Happy stamp set, a $100 choice.

I adhered a 1/2" x 5 1/4" piece of the same DSP to a Basic White 4" x 5 1/4" piece and adhere this to the inside.

The next card is also using the Dainty Flowers DSP. The cardbase is Calypso Coral, 8 1/2" x         5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The Old Olive mat is        5 1/8" x 3 3/4" with two opposite corners rounded. The DSP is cut at 4 7/8" x 3 1/2", also with the same two corners rounded. The sentiment is from Shaded Summer and is stamped with Black Memento in the center of the wreath. Both the mat and the DSP are then adhered to the front of the cardbase. The twine is from the Three Twine Combo Pack in the new Mini Catalog. About 10" of each color will be enough to tie a double bow. Adhere the bow with a glue dot and your card is finished. You can put a Basic White piece on the inside again just as on the previous card.

The next card features the By the Bay DSP sold in the new Mini Catalog. Cut two 7/8" strips from one DSP then cut a    2 1/2" piece from another. Adhere the two side pieces first then the middle piece. Punch a label using the Label Me Lovely punch found in the Annual Catalog out of Basic White cardstock. Stamp your sentiment (this one is from Inspired Thoughts stamp set also found in the Annual Catalog) toward the bottom of the label using Night of Navy or Black Memento ink. Fussy cut the bird from one of the sheets of DSP. Loop 6" of ribbon in a U shape and adhere to the back of the label. Attach the label and ribbon with dimensionals toward the bottom half of the card. Use dimensionals to adhere the bird to the top part of the label. Add 3 gold brushed metal dots to finish off the card. Again prepare a piece of Basic White 5 1/4" x 4" for the inside by adhering a strip of either DSP patterns to the edge and adhere the Basic White to the inside.

This last card uses the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper found in the new Mini Catalog. Several pieces of that pack have mirror images that can be cut into 3" or 4" pieces to make 6 or 8 cards from the one sheet of paper. The cardbase for this card is Starry Sky 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The DSP is cut to 4" x 5 1/4". You should be able to get 6 cards from this sheet of DSP. The DSP is adhered directly to the cardbase. The sentiment piece is punched using the Cloud Punch from Basic White. I used the Blending Brush and Highland Heather ink to lightly add color to the white. Celebrate You is from the Dainty Delight stamp set and is stamped in Starry Sky ink. It is added to the top of the card with dimensionals. Starry Sky twine (app. 10") is tied in a bow and attached with a glue dot. Add dots of your choice. Use Basic White for the inside and your card is complete.

DIE-ING TO KNOW ABOUT SEASIDE BAY

This month's Die-ing to Know will explore Seaside Bay stamps and dies to discover how we can better use this new bundle!

This bundle has multiple images of various sea shells including a clam shell that you can actually place a pearl into. There are also stamps and dies for birds and sand. There are two sea grass dies and some additionals shell dies.

These are some of the sample cards that I created to show off this set!

Some have the clam with a pearl inside. Some images are stamped and diecut, others are diecut from the new By The Bay designer series paper.

All of these will be available to order beginning January 5. Sale-A-Bration also begins the same day. For every $50 in products you order during the Sale-A-Bration period from Jan. 5 to Feb. 28, you can select a free product from the SAB catalog.

This You Tube video will demonstrate all the parts of this bundle and you will see me create a card from some of the pieces. You can also see it on my Stampindede's Doin's Facebook page.

If you do not have a Stampin Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you. If you want to place an order from my store , please use this HOST CODE  KNY9MAYN
