Today's Stampin' Thursday Facebook Live featured slimline cards. I apologize that the sound becomes very garbled. I still don't know what caused that but I hope to have a remedy by next Thursday's Stampin' Thursday.
So hopefully this post will answer any questions that you were left with. If not, please message or e-mail me and I'll do my best to answer them!
Slimline cards started showing up on-line this past year but for some reason, I never tried to make one. I found myself getting bored with the size I was making, so decided to give the slimline a try. I loved it. And the awesome thing is you can use your regular business size envelopes. I found a box of them in Clint's office so guess where they are now!! And who mails in payments these days anyway....so I'm hoping he doesn't need them. 😀
Here are the samples that I made this week as well as the one we made on Stampin' Thursday. (The Whale Done card)
This last one is the one we made today. The card base is 8x9, scored at 4 leaving you with a 4x9 card base. I used Bermuda Bay cardstock. My card front is 8 3/4 x 3 3/4 Basic White cardstock. I used the next to the largest square in my Stitched Shapes dies to cut the three windows, spaced equally apart. I then used it as a template to guide my stamping on the Bermuda Bay background. I stamped the sea weed in both Bermuda Bay and in Old Olive, once in each window. I also stamped the school of fish in Bermuda Bay in each window and a seahorse in the bottom two windows. I filled in the ocean bottom with coral also stamped in Bermuda Bay.
Now we're ready to stamp the white card front. I stamped the seaweed 3 times in both Bermuda Bay and Old Olive. To add just a little more interest, I 'pen stitched' around the edges of each window. I used my Basic Gray Stamp N Write marker for that.
I mounted the window card front with dimensional strips to raise it off the card base. I stamped the turtle in Pretty Peacock, the coral in Terracotta Tile and the jelly fish in Bermuda Bay - all on white. I fussy cut each of these. Then I stamped the whale in Smoky Slate and used the punch for him. I tucked the jelly fish under the top window, right side. The other three items I glued onto the windows as shown. I die cut my sentiment from Stitched So Sweetly dies and stamped it with the sentiment 'Hoping All Your Birthday Fishes Come True'. I mounted it on the top left corner and added a Glitter Enamel Dot and a twine bow. I decorated the envelope with the stamped seaweed and turtle.
I can't wait to send this card to someone. I think it will be a treat to get a card that is a different size! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
