I'm not very good at just journaling...sharing feelings...going deep on paper - or on my blog. But I was very touched by this challenge and by the life (albeit short) of this particular scrapbooker.
I can't go back to my children's childhood and if I could there are a lot of things I think I'd do a little differently.
One of those things would be to take more pictures of me with them. I was so blessed to be able to stay at home with them (thank you my sweet husband) and chose to do so. I had my teaching degree and had been offered a teaching position, but I chose to postpone that dream until later to be able to spend more time with my children. But back then we were limited to cameras with film that had to be developed and was costly or to Polaroid 'instant' pictures that were even more expensive! So we were selective about the pictures that we took. In fact, it wasn't a spontaneous response to go grab the camera like it is today. Most pictures were taken at holidays (family standing in front of the tree - mom NOT included), or when grandparents visited, or on Easter Sunday with the Easter baskets. There were no timers on cameras and you couldn't see if the picture turned out or not, so you just took your chances. Oh how I wish I could go back and take a few more pictures of me with my two precious children. I spent a LOT of time with them playing, dancing, going to the museum, going on picnics, going on bike rides, doing art projects, playing games, cooking (Todd loved to cook - not Tori!), planting a garden, and on and on. But I don't think I have much physical proof of that - just the memories that they may have...and I pray they remember.
So I invite you to read Aleida's Challenge on Emilie's blog and be inspired by it.
I would also encourage you to go take a look at Aleida's blog post and browse around to catch a glimpse of a life cut short.
Then go out and make the most of yours!!
