Contour Die and Hand Penned DSP Gift Box

 I love to give the cards I make as gifts! I bet you do too. I used to tie a ribbon around them just to make them look special. Then I learned how to make this gift card box! You can decorate this box to match the set of cards you are giving and make it a really special presentation for your gift.

8 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock

a scoreboard or trimmer with scoring blade and your snips, and of course adhesive.

Stampin' Up Third Thursday Mystery Card Facebook Live

This week's Stampin Thursday Facebook Live is Third Thursday Mystery Card!! Join me at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. Gather these supplies and be ready to create a card, step by step. If you have questions, just put them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them! 

Here are the supplies you need to play along, either live or on the replay.

Gather these supplies and join me Thursday for Facebook Live at 10 a.m.

Clue 1

 1. Basic White Cardstock - 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at       4 ¼”

2. Basic White Cardstock - 3 ¾” x 5”

3. Colored Cardstock 4” x 5 ¼”

4. Basic White Cardstock - scrap

5. Designer Series Paper (different patterns - remember SU Designer Series Paper is two sided) - (4) 1 5/8” x 2 ¼”   They should coordinate!

6. Pencil and eraser

7. Dies, Punches, Snips, Trimmer

8. Stamps

9. Ink

10. Adhesive

12. Embellishments

 Because this is such a cute card, I want you to be able to access the Clues. I was doing my 

Facebook Live from a friend's lakehouse and our power went out. I was able to continue after about 30 minutes so this link will be for the 2nd video.

Do you love birds?

One of my favorite things to do in the Spring is to watch the birds gather around our feeders in the backyard and listen to their songs as they communicate with one another!

So it was just natural for me to be immediately attracted to Sweet Songbirds bundle in the new Stampin' Up 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. It is a whimsical set with a punch that makes building the bird easy. I offered 4 card kits along with ordering the Sweet Songbirds bundle for the May Monthly Class to Go.

Here are the cards that are to be made with the kits.

 

This card users the Layering Diorama Dies. The card base is Basic White. The next layer is Orchid Oasis then the first Diorama layer is Mint Macaron. The DSP is Hues of Happiness, cut with the next size Diorama die. The last cut is Basic White. The bird and wing are stamped on Basic White with Mint Macaron and punched. Stamp the eyes onto the bird. The nest and limb are stamped on Crumb Cake with Early Espresso and fussy cut. The limb is adhered then the nest is attached with dimensionals. Adhere the wing to the bird then add dimensionals to the back of the bird and slip it into the nest. Stamp the sentiment piece and adhere with dimensionals. Tie the linen thread into a bow and attyach to the nest with a glue dot.

This card is made using one of the Picture This dies. Use the circle Picture This to cut the Parakeet Party 4 x 5 1/4 piece of cardstock. Stamp the branch with Soft Sueded and the leaves with Parakeet Party.  Stamp the bird feet below the large diecut circle with Early Espresso. Cut 3 1"x1" squares from the Tahitian Tide DSP and adhere behing the 3 smaller circles Attach the Parakeet Party piece to the Basie White cardbase, Stamp the notes into the upper right large circle. Position the bird on the branch on the feet with dimensionals. Stamp sentiment onto a diecut Basic White sentiment piece. Back this piece with Tahitian Tide and adhere to cardfront with dimensionals. Tie bow with Tahitian Tide ribbon and attach with gluedot below sentiment. Add the Sweet Sorbet In Color dots to finish card.

This 'flying bird' card is fairly simple to make. Again, the card base is Basic White. I cut two 3/4" x 5 1/2"  strips from the Sun Prints DSP but you could, of course, use any DSP and adhere to the left side of the card base. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the bird and both wings in Sweet Sorbet ink and punch. Add eyes to bird with Black Memento ink. Adhere the wings to the body. Adhere bird to center of card with dimensionals. Stamp notes onto cardfront with Black ink. Stamp the tree limb along the bottom with Early Espresso and leaves with Soft Succulent. Stamp sentiment and adhere with dimensionals. Tie bow with Starry Sky metallic ribbon and attach with glue dot, leaving ends hanging down.

And last but not least is the card with the window. This card uses a Basic White cardbase and a 5 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece of Tahitian Tide Glimmer paper. The bird is punched from Tahitian Tide cardstock as is the small wing. The breast piece is punched from Basic White and the beak from So Saffron. The nest is stamped with Soft Suede as is the branch inside the card. The leaves are stamped with Party Parakeet. The ribbon used is Parakeet Party and the Decorative Dots are Tahitian Tide. Wild & Sweet - something old with something new!!

 Today's video shows using something old - In the Wild DSP (retiring in 4 days!) - along with something  new - the Koala Bear from Wild & Sweet stamp set (in new catalog) - to create a really sweet card! I've also used several products that will be returning in the new Annual Catalog going live in 5 days! So here's the card...

The card base is Soft Succulent cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The DSP, 5 1/4" x 4",  is from In The Wild which is retiring in just 4 days! You will also need a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock for the border around the image and the sentiment. 

Using the larger round die with the distsinctive border from the Painted Labels dies (returning in the new catalog) cut from the center of the DSP. Carefully release the paper from the die. Also cut the large leaf image from Forever Flourishing dies out of Evening Evergreen. 

Stamp the Koala image onto Basic White cardstock and cut with the 4th largest Layering Circles Framelits. Use the next largest circle die to cut from Sahara Sand cardstock. Adhere the image to the Sahara Sand mat.

Stamp the sentiment Hello There from Eden's Garden onto Basic White cardstock and trim. Banner the left end of the sentiment. Adhere to a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock and trim to leave a small edge around the sentiment. Banner the Sahara Sand to match the Basic White. 

Adhere the DSP to the cardbase with dimensionals. Attach the Painted Labels circle to the cardfront inside the circle in the DSP with adhesive. Then add the Koala piece to the center of this with dimensionals. 

Trim the bottom layer of leaves from the greenery and adhere to the cardfront with liquid glue.. Overlap the image just a little.

Add the sentiment to the top edge. Finish this off with an Irridescent Rhinestone.

Mystery Stamping 4.21.22...landscape or portrait??

 Good Morning! Summer is getting here too quickly. Where is Spring?

Well, one thing you can count on is Stamping' Thursday Mystery Card every 3rd Thursday of the month. And today is no exception! 

Here is Clue 1 that tells you what supplies you need to create our Mystery Card. I hope that you will play along without a sneak peek at the end result...but if not, that's okay too!

Once you've gathered your supplies together, then go to YouTube and watch the video as you assemble your card!

Here are the Mystery Card samples that I made, following the clues. The first card is done as a portrait card. 

I used Highland Heather cardstock and Flowering Fields DSP. My sentiment came from Hello Lady Bug. The ladybugs, of course, were stamped and punched from the Hello Ladybug bundle. The measurements and instructions are on the video.

This second card is done as a landscape card.

This card is made with Rich Razzleberry cardstock and New Horizons DSP. The image is hand-cut from the Sale-A-Bration set Friendly Hello. I used Rich Razzleberry, and Highland Heather Stampin' Blends to color them with Light Melon Mambo in the center of the flower. I added 5 Irridescent Rhinestones to finish it off. The sentiment is also from Friendly Hello.
