Fields In Bloom

This stamp set offers many possibilities for cardmaking! Let's look at some of them.

These first three samples illustrate ways that this stamp set can be used. You need to watch the YouTube video to see how easy it is to use these stamps!

The last two samples also illustrate Triple Time Stamping using this stamp set.

The measurements for Triple Time Stamping are as follows:

The base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"...colored cardstock that matches the ink used on the flowers. The first card used Berry Burst for the flowers, the card base and the mats. The second card uses Gorgeous Grape.

The Basic White layers are 4" x 5 1/4", 3" x 4 1/4", and 2" x 3 1/4".

The mat sizes are slightly larger than the Basic White layers

3 1/4" x 4 1/2" and 2 1/4" x 3 1/2". The cardbase is the third mat!

Stack the 3 Basic White layers in order given, using a small touch of adhesive between each to hold them together.

Stamp image onto the Basic White, large enough to overlap all 3 layers.

Separate the Basic White layers and matte each one with the coordinating size carstock

Adhere the largest layer to the card base, then the 2nd – lining up the stamped image as good as possible, then the smallest layer.

Add sentiment and any other embellishments desired.

Fields in Bloom is the perfect set for Triple Time stamping! Watch the YouTube video then give it a try!

Dutch Door Gatefold

It's another Stampin' Thursday and today I'm featuring another Gate-fold card. This is the Dutch Door Gatefold.

The supplies you need are:

  *card stock for card base - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", 11" x 2 1/4" scored at 5 1/2, and a square diecut of around 2 3/4" (I used Stylish Shapes for the two squares)
*Basic White or Very Vanilla square diecut  2 3/8", inside piece 5 1/4" x 2"
  *DSP 5 1 /4" x 2"
*Sentiment stamp that will fit on the smaller square diecut
*Stamped and die cut or fussy cut images for top of squares

This is a really simple card to make.
1) Fold 11" card stock and adhere to bottom of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card stock, opening to the left as a normal card would
2) Adhere Basic White or Very Vanilla to the inside part of the 11" piece
3) Stamp sentiment onto the smaller square and adhere this to the larger square.
4)Adhere this to the card front, centered
5) Add images as desired to complete card

That was easy, right?!

The first three are the samples and the fourth is the one I did in the video.

Two Cardmaking Techniques or Tools...monochromatic and sketches

On today's Facebook Live I demonstrated one of my favorite techniques...using monochromatic color scheme.   I paired that technique with using sketches from the Annual Catalog on page 22. Sketches are a great tool for inspiration and sparking your creativity.

These are the sketches I chose...

For the first sketch, I followed the sketch pretty closely to show how that can be done to create a unique card. I did rotate the sketch from portrait to landscape. In the catalog it is in portrait format.  I chose to use Gorgeous Grape as my color. The card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4". I used Perennial Lavender DSP, choosing 3 patterns which include Gorgeous Grape. I cut the rectangular piece 3" x 4 1/4" and adhered it to the card base. Then I used the 2nd largest Stylish Shapes die to cut my two circles, each from a different DSP. I wanted to highlight the piece with the flowers and butterfly so I glued the other circle then added the highlighted circle with dimensionals. I used a butterfly from the Paper Butterfly Accents and blended Georgeous Grape and Fresh Fresia ink onto it with a blending brush. I adhered it to the highlighted circle. I then added my sentiment from Thoughtful Expressions to Very Vanilla cardstock and bannered the ends. I adhered that with dimensionals and added a Linen Twine bow underneath to complete my card.

My 2nd card is a monochromatic Basic White card using this sketch as a starting point! My base is Basic White 11" x 4 1/4", scored at 5 1/2". I embossed another Basic White 5 1/4" x 4" with the Vines 3E embossing folder and adhere that to the cardfront, centered. I then used the leafy frame die from Citrus Blooms for my third layer of Basic White, overlaid on the embossed piece. I stamped the flower stamp from Thoughtful Expressions with Versamark onto Basic White and embossed with White embossing powder. I diecut this piece and adhere it to the center with dimensionals. The sentiment is from retired Inspired Thoughts, stamped in Pebbled Path, cut and bannered, mounted with dimensionals. I added White Diagonal ribbon and 3 Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls

The 3rd card is the one that I demonstrated on my video so be sure to watch it for clarity! The card base is Basic White 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4". I then adhered a   5 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of Petunia Pop cardstock onto the card front. I used Unbounded Beauty DSP and chosed four patterns that all featured the Petunia Pop color. I cut a      1" x 4" strip from each pattern, cutting 2 pieces from 2 of the patterns for a total of  six 1" strips. I glued these to a piece of 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White cardstock, alternating patterns and allowing the top and bottom pieces to hang off a little. I then used the outline frame die from Citrus Blooms to cut this piece. I used Foam Adhesive Sheet on the back of this piece to mount it. The sentiment piece is cut using a die from the Unbounded Love dies. I cut it once with the Petunia Pop and again with the Basic White. I adhered the Petunia Pop outline frame to the card front. I stamped my sentiment onto the Basic White inside piece and glued it into the frame. I also cut the stem from Petunia Pop and adhered it to the top part of the frame. I finished the card with Petunia Pop ribbon. This card is inspired by the sketch but varies from it as well.

I hope seeing these sketches used to spark creativity has inspired you to give sketches a try. Start with the sketches in the Annual Catalog on page 22.

Again, the video will really help with the last card.
