DOUBLE Z FUN FOLD CARD

I love fun fold cards that are NOT complicated! This one is NOT complicated and goes together so easily. First you need to cut your pieces...

The cardstocks should be the same but the Designer Series Paper (DSP) can be different but coordinating. The larger 'white' piece could be a DSP or different cardstock, depending on if you want to stamp on it or not. If so, it should be either white or a lighter color.

The two pieces of cardstock are scored the same.

but are attached opposite... (don't attach yet!!)

That's the hardest part of the whole thing!!!

Your two DSP pieces are to be attached to the back section and to the front section. Your white or light pieces are for the smaller strip. You will need to add whatever embellishments you may want to the      3 3/4" x 2" piece after you adhere it to the front. Then if you want to do any stamping on the smaller    1 1/2" x 2 piece, you should do that before adhering it.

You will have a better picture of how it all goes together by looking at these samples and by watching the FB Live video or the YouTube video.

This card uses the new Bewitching set in the July - Dec. Mini Catalog. The DSP is from the 2022-2024 In Color DSP pack, The colors are Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party on a Basic Gray cardbase. The black & white paper is from Perfectly Penciled DSP.

This card uses the Cottage Rose bundle and DSP. I fussy cut the flowers from one of the papers. I left the smaller piece on the right blank for signiing the card.

I made this card using my favorite DSP, the New Horizons DSP which retires after today!! I stamped a few trees, cut out 3 small deer and stamped birds on the top. The front sentiment uses Biggest Wish and the inside sentiment is from Wildlife Wonder. Add a little linen thread and you're done!!

The card I demo-ed on the video uses the Cup of Tea bundle. The sample and the one I made use a different pattern of the Tea Boutique DSP but are otherwise the same. The first is the sample and the second is the one I demonstrated.

Again, for complete instructions, watch the FBLive or YouTube listed above. Let me know which card is your favorite!! And I'd love to see a photo of your creation using the Double Z fun fold.

If you're on this post and you don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to help you!! E-mail me at suzyzoo@verizon.net

3 Levels of Cardmakers...beginner, casual, and avid

Which are you? Beginner? Casual? Avid?

I'm Stampindede and I'm using the Beautiful Shapes dies to demonstrate the 3 levels of cardmakers. These dies offer lots of possibilities for cardmaking. I chose to use them because 'stepping up' a card is harder using only dies. When you use a stamp set, there are so many ways to step it up, but using only dies is more of a challenge. So challenge accepted!!

The Beautiful Shapes dies offer hexagons, circles, 2 different sentiment options, and smaller pieces of hexagons, triangles and trapezoids...all perfect for creating!

The first card I created was one that illustrates what a beginner cardmaker might make...

I used a Soft Suede cardbase. The 4 hexagons were cut from Crumb Cake and one is cut from 2021-2023 In Color DSP - Evening Evergreen. The sentiment piece is cut with the trimmer to approximately 3 1/4" x 3/4" bannered on one end and stamped with the sentiment (from Happiness Abounds) with Early Espresso ink.  The card is finished with a border of dashes hand done with the Evening Evergreen Stamp N Write marker. The inside Very Vanilla 4 x 5 1/4 can be dressed up with a couple of smaller hexagons.

The next level of cardmaker is the casual designer! A casual cardmaker might add another layer, might add more patterns, and might add twine or ribbon. My casual card adds a layer of DSP from the 2021-2023 In Color DSP cut as a banner.

This banner is added to the cardbase with adhesive.  Two of the hexagons are cut from Crumb Cake then the other 3 are cut from various DSPs from the 2021-2023 In Color DSP and from the Pretty Prints DSP set.

These are added to the cardfront with Liquid Glue. The sentiment is stamped on the Crumb Cake piece, bannered, and added to the front. A bow of Linen Twine is attached under the sentiment with a glue dot. The inside consists of 3 of the hexagons and some doodling along two of the edges.

Last is the avid card.

The avid card may add another layer, may add dimension with popped up elements, may add more textures or designs and may use more embellishments. This card adds a layer of Sahara Sand                4" x 5 1/4" and uses Crumb Cake ink and a blender brush to add distressing to the edges of the Sahara Sand, the DSP banner and to the Crumb Cake hexagons. More patterned DSP is used taken from Sun Prints DSP and Pretty Prints DSP along with the 2021 - 2023 In Color DSP. These patterned papers are cut with the smaller hexagon and mounted on the distressed Crumb Cake hexagons. Two of the hexagons are popped up with dimensionals. The sentiment piece is diecut with one of the shapes in the set and is popped up as well. The twine is wrapped around the banner before mounting then a double bow is added with a glue dot. 3 gems are placed on the front to finish the card. The inside just has two of the hexagons with the DSP in the center, one at the top and another at the bottom, diagonally across from each other.

So I hope that you have been encouraged to use your diecuts to step up your cards.

Here is the video to demonstrate how to make the avid card and you'll see some other card sample using the Beautiful Shapes.

Watch this video to learn to tie a double bow.

3D Tea Bag & Treat Holder

The 3D project that I had at my June Tea Party was this 3D Tea Bag & Treat Holder. Although this is a project that has been around for quite a while, it was perfect for what I needed. So I decided to resurrect it!

All you need is a 6"x6" piece of Designer Series Paper, a scoreboard or Trimmer with a score blade, a ribbon and whatever you want to embellish it with.

First of all you fold your 6"x 6" paper in half, point to point.

Then using either your trimmer or scoreboard, place your paper folded side to the left. Make your first score at 1/2". Flip over and do the same thing on the opposite side.

Now turn your paper with the folded edge at the top of the trimmer or scoreboard. Score at 2 3/4". Flip  and score at 2 3/4" again on the opposite end.

That's all the scoring so you can put your trimmer or scoreboard away.

Now, crease all your scorelines. I use my bonefolder to make sure I get a good creased edge.

With your center going horizontal, fold the left side in along score line then right side.

Then fold the first outer fold away from you. Turn over and fold the second fold away from you. This forms your tea bag holder!

Punch a hole at the top and tie ends together with ribbon.

Add whatever embellishment you want to one side. I chose to decorate the tea bag side since that was the theme of my event. After decorating, add tea bag in one side and a treat in the other. Give to someone special!!

See the YouTube video here.
