I have been practicing making these beautiful and unique cards. So I thought I'd post the directions here. I enjoy trying new techniques then sharing it with others.
For these two cards, I used the Stampin Up Peaceful Poppies designer series papers because the flower works so well for this card. But now I'm going to be trying other stamp sets and designer series papers.
The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4. On the first card I made, I used whisper white cardbase, and on the second one, I used Flirty Flamingo.
The first thing you need to do is make a template. Take a piece of white 4x5 1/4. Using a pencil and a ruler, place a mark on the left side at 1/2" and another at 3/4". Then on the right side, place a mark 3" down from the top. Last, along the bottom, mark 3" from the left.
Use your trimmer to cut along the two dotted lines. Now you have your 3-piece template.
Choose the patterned paper you want to use for the top layer (the top and bottom piece of the template). Cut it the same size as the template...4 x 5 1/4. Lay the top and bottom template pieces on your pattern paper and mark the cut lines. Cut with your trimmer. Also select a coordinating piece of solid cardstock and cut 2 8" x 1/2" pieces. The 8" is too much but you don't want to risk not having enough! Glue these two strips along both inside edges of your patterned paper and trim.
Now select another solid piece for the 4 x 5 1/4 card front. I used one of the solid Peaceful Poppies dsp. Adhere this piece to the whisper white card base. Next position the two pieces of patterned paper onto the solid card front. You can see that I was a little off on the first card but did a better job of positioning it on the second one! Trial and error!!
I attached the first card with adhesive. On the second card, I used dimensionals to attach the solid pieces to the card.
So now you need to add your embellishments. For the first card, I used watercolor flower elements from a former set, which are no longer available. I just needed to use mine up!! So for the second card, I stamped 3 flowers from the Painted Poppies stamp set then colored them with my stamping blends. I stamped 3 leaves from the same stamp set and colored them as well. To coordinate with the paper, I used Flirty Flamingo, Poppy Parade, and Daffodil Delight. I used Granny Apple Green for the leaves. I accented the centers with black and added a touch of Wink of Stella. Cut these with the coordinating dies. Position the flowers and leaves and attach with glue dots and dimensionals.
On the second card, I just reversed what I used on the first...Peaceful Poppies dsp for the center piece and the solid dsp for the other two pieces, trimmed in black.
Add a sentiment and you're done!!
I hope to do a video tutorial soon and will post the link when it is ready. Thanks for looking!!
(two days later!!) I just finished another one with the Ornate Garden dsp and the daisy punch.
I have recorded the video but forgot to introduce myself! I forget this is for anyone!! I'm Deanna Blackmon, Stampin Up Demonstrator, with
StampinDeDe's Doin's. If you don't have a demonstrator, I'd love to help you!!
Hope you enjoy the video.
