Two projects, several challenges!

For my Friends That Scrap Wk. 10 Challenge, I did the following layout. We were given a sketch and we had to choose one of the following: tearing, chalking, stamping, misting; and 3 from the following list: 5+ buttons, 8+ pattern paper, bling, glitter, 5+ eyelets, rub-ons. On this layout, I misted the two frames and also the flowers. Then I used 5+ buttons, 8+ pattern paper and rub-ons. The family pictured are part of our extended family.

I'm also entering this layout in The Pink Elephant's challenge for this week - a layout featuring something that makes you  happy.

The card I made used the sketch provided  and from these techniques - stamping, coloring, stitching - I chose coloring. We also had to choose two from the following list: 3+ pattern paper, 3+ flowers, an animal, glitter/bling, ribbon/twine. I used coloring, 3+ pattern paper and an animal. I also entered this card in Stampin' Sister's in Christ challenge to make a Christmas card. I'm sad to see that blog go dormant for a time - I've just started participating in their challenges and enjoying their inspiration. But I certainly understand, and feel that when God closes a door, we must be obedient to that. Family is more important than any hobby that we may have! So this will be their last challenge.

Thanks for looking at my creations!

Greeting Cards with a gift box

The bad news...I've been ill with a sinus infection. The good news...I've stayed home and gotten some things done!! I made two sets of greeting cards today along with matching gift boxes for a couple of friends (hopefully they won't see this!!) I used the gift card box template from Stamp TV and LOVE this  little box. On the first set I used a dingbat from Silhouette People font, enlarged it, and printed it off on creme cardstock. I used my nestabilities to punch the oval and the scalloped oval, printed off several different greetings, a little black ribbon, all mounted on Recollections Black and Creme designer cards. Then I used the same image and creme ribbon for the front of the box. It made a really cute set.

The next set I made is for a friend who LOVES pink! On this one I used Washi tape and Heidi Swapp tape for the design. I covered pieces of cardstock, cut the flower with my Sidekick (yep - I still use it!!), and mounted  the tape-covered cardstock on kraft card base. I printed the greetings on pink cardstock and punched a border. Once this was mounted on the card front, I then added the flower and put a dab of stickles in the center. I made the gift box from the same pink, added the tape and flower to the front and added her initials.
Now all I have to do is finish the Thanksgiving napkin rings I'm making for our Thanksgiving meal...all 17 of them! The cute turkey is a Bugaboo digi stamp that I colored digitally, printed and cut. Then I'll braid some ribbon, tie it off, stick the turkey onto the top and call it a napkin ring!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

So many things I want to do...so little time!

I would love to just sit in my craft room and scrapbook all day (and night!) if I could, but 'life' keeps getting in the way! No seriously, there are other very important things that God has placed in my life as well, so 'balance' is always my goal! This week, we have been making major room changes in our home. We've moved my hubbies' office to a different room, and moved the huge L-shaped desk out of my scrap room into his office. That has left me with lots more room, but lots less storage! So...there are still piles of things lying around on the floor waiting for me to find a place to put them! However, in the midst of all the mess, I managed to get some scrapping done!! LOL!

My Yahoo group's weekly Card and Layout Challenges have been completed, leaving me in the challenge for at least another week! Then I also made some cards to send to a group member as a snag.

My FTSSC layout challenge this week had to use the following sketch and had to incorporate (my choices) misting, flowers, butterflies (or any bug), and rubons. I actually did a two page layout, but the second half followed the challenge. The pictures are of our sweet Will and Clint (his BaBa) enjoying time together playing the instruments. Will is very musical and from a very young age exhibited rhythm and a love for singing and playing!

For the card challenge, I used the following sketch, stamping, twine, & 5+ patterned papers. This card was also entered in the current challenge for  Stampin' Sisters in Christ whose challenge is 'broken and put back together'

Last are a couple of the additional cards I made. The turtle card, digi from DigiScrapKits, is entered in Craft Your Passions's 'clean and simple' challenge and the skunk card, digi also from DigiScrapKits, in The Pink Elephant's 'punches or dies' challenge.

New Challenge card and layout

I love these challenges...they really do motivate me!

Here is the sketch and the card for the Friends That Scrap Card Challenge. Of the required element choices, I used embossing; 3 pp, chipboard (star). I stamped then paper-pieced the Christmas tree.

Then here is my layout for the Friends That Scrap Scrapbook Challenge. On this I used stamping; bling, glitter, hidden journaling, and a large die cut. The hidden journaling is behind the scalloped circle attached to the flowers. It says, "While dating, Tori & Greg found many opportunities to get all dressed up including a friend's wedding, Father's Day, and the night that Greg asked Tori to marry him!"
