Stampin' Thursday Masking Tape Technique

This is a fun technique, albeit a little messy!! So have a wipe handy!

The supplies you'll need are a cardbase, Basic White 5 1/4" x 4" (2), a small sentiment piece of Basic White, stamps, 5 ink pads that coordinate, a dark ink for your image and sentiment, a larger image stamp and a sentiment stamp. You'll also need the narrower masking tape.

To see this technique, you should watch the YouTube video.

Here is the first sample I shared.

This card was made using Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Shy Shamrock Flirty Flamingo, Pretty in Pink, starting with the Pool Party.  Once I completed the colors all the way down, I stamped the shepherd image from Shepherd's Care. I also used one of my circle dies (I think this one was Deckled Circles) and stamped the sentiment also from Shepherd's Care. I mounted the sentiment with dimensionals. I used two of the colors on the inside piece as well as the flap edge of the envelope. The card base is Coastal Cabana.

This is the card I demonstrated on the video. The colors turned out darker than I anticipated but you can at least see how the technique is done. The card base is Petunia Pop. I looked on the Color Wheel and used the two colors around Petunia Pop as well as the colors across the wheel from it. I used Berry Burst, Petunia Pop, Fresh Fresia, Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist. I used Pebbled Path for the image (from Quiet Meadow) and the sentiment.

Like I said, the colors turned out darker than I anticipated but I still think this technique creates beautiful cards!

The demonstration can be seen on YouTube or on my Facebook page.

I hope you'll give this technique a try. I think you'll love it! Next time I'm going to try blues and yellows!

10/31/24 Sketch Challenge Facebook Live

Today's Facebook Live uses a card sketch to create our card.

Here is the sketch.

The measurements for this sketch are: card base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4";                           rectangles (cut 3) 2 1/2" x 1 3/4"; any size circle or sentiment piece.

You can, of course, add images, ribbon, gems...whatever you need to complete your card!

This is the card that I created on the video. I used Mediterranean Blooms (I think I said 'Citrus Blooms" on the video!) on a card base of Night of Navy. The butterflies are from Sketched Butterflies as well as the sentiment, and the sentiment piece from Thoughtful Expressions. The inks are Blueberry Bushel and Highland Heather (the colors on each side of Night of Navy on the Color Wheel!

The first sample that I showed used Humble Home and  Nests of Winter DSP. The card base is Moody Mauve with a Crumb Cake card front. The house was punched from the DSP and stamped with Pebbled Path The gems are the Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls that I colored with Moody Mauve Stampin' Blend. The ribbon is a retired Misty Moonlight ribbon.

And the 2nd sample card uses the Nests of Winter DSP.

The birds are fussy cut from the DSP. The sentiment piece is from Autumn Leaves and the sentiment from Winterly Treetops. The ribbon is retired Pool Party . The card base is Coastal Cabana and the mat is Smoky Slate.

So I hope that you will try this sketch out with your choice of DSP. There are so many possibilities!!

Mystery Make It Together 9.19.24

Here are the supplies that you need to gather in order to make this card. It is a simple card but unique at the same time.

The video on my Facebook group page or on YouTube will show you how to put this easy card together.

This is the card that I demonstrated on the video. It uses the Nests of Winter DSP and Gray Granite cardstock. The front sentiment is from Spotlight on Nature and the inside sentiment is from Cheerful Daisies. I used Linen Thread.

Here are the other sample cards that I made using this same format.

This card uses Splendid Autumn DSP. Scenery paper always makes the card more interesting. On the video I share a tip for using just one piece of 6"x6" DSP for this card. The card base is Cajun Craze. The ribbon is Copper Clay and the gems are from the Neutrals Adhesive Backed Sequins. I love these because they are easier to mail! The sentiment on the front is from Spotlight on Nature. The inside sentiment says 'Your Friendship Means Everything' from Cheerful Daisies.

I wanted to make a Christmas card using this pattern so this one is made with Real Red cardstock and Take a Bow DSP. I used the Humble Home bundle. The house is punched from Early Espresso then stamped with Versamark and White Embossing Powder. The Real Red & White Adhesive Backed Peppermints can be found in the new Mini Catalog. Love these!! The Red & White twine is also available in the mini catalog. Both sentiments are from the Humble Home stamp set. The inside says From Our House to Yours.

This is actually the very first one that I made and follows the pattern exactly. It uses the Wildly Flowering DSP and Early Espresso cardstock. The ribbon is Moody Mauve. The sentiments are from Sketched Butterflies (Wishing You A Beautiful Birthday) and Unbounded Love (May All Your Wishes Come True). The gems are Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls.

This is an easy card to make and I hope that you will give it a try!

Telescope Technique

I love to see old techniques resurrected and used with current products!

This technique has been around but has recently become very popular. It is called the Telescope Technique. You will need a set of nested dies for this technique - Countryside Corners, Deckled Circles or Rectangles, Stylish Shapes, or the Perennial Postage dies are a few of the current sets available. You will also need cardstock for a base and a mat to coordinate with the DSP that you have selected. That is basically all you need except maybe a sentiment and some embellishments. You will also need a cutting machine for your nested dies.

The card that I demonstrate in the video uses Splendid Autumn DSP (3 7/8" x 5 1/8"), Blackberry Bliss  cardstock card base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4") and Pumpkin Pie cardstock mat (4" x 5 1/4").  I used the Deckled Rectangles dies - the 3 next to the smallest. I cut these three dies, nested one inside the other, from the DSP. I then used Adhesive strips and dimensionals to adhere them back in place. I used Adhesive strips on the outside diecut piece, dimensionals on the next smallest and then glued the third piece (the rectangle) into the center. This creates the 'telescope' effect. I embellished with twine , a sentiment from Unbounded Love, and some random pieces of greenery.

The telescoping dies on this card spotlighted the sunset.

These are the other samples that I had made using this technique.

This sample uses the Nests of Winter DSP and the square Stylish Shapes dies. The sentiment is from Winterly Treetops in the new mini catalog.

This next sample uses Unbounded Beauty DSP and the Stylish Shapes circle dies. The flowers are fussy-cut from the DSP and the sentiment is from Unbounded Love.

This card uses Wildly Flowering DSP and the Countryside Corner dies. The sentiment is from Unbounded Love and Have a Blessed Day is stamped on the inside.

Lastly I wanted to try a Christmas card and instead of telescoping in, I tried telescoping out. I used DSP from A Little Bit Festive and the diecuts from that set as well. The sentiment diecut came from Joyful Sayings Ephemera pack - all of this available in the new September - December 2024 mini catalog. To achieve the opposite telescope effect, I used the least amount of adhesive on the outside diecut piece, a little more on the 2nd diecut piece and the thickest amount on the center piece. The video goes into more detail how to do this!

I hope that you will give this Telescope Technique a try! If you do not have a Stampin' Up demonstrator to help you, please e-mail me and I'd love to help! You can see all products at my on-line shop

9 Rectangles on a Card

We're always looking for ways to use our DSP (patterned paper), right? So this sketch affords us another way to use our beautiful Designer Series Paper!

The measurements for this card are:

    card base  8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"

    Basic White card front  5 1/4" x 4"

    DSP  cut 9 rectangles 1 5/8" x 1 1/4" each

card stock scraps for sentiment label and embellishment images

    ribbon and/or gems if desired

These are the samples that I showed on my Facebook Live or on YouTube.

I really needed some masculine birthday cards so that was the motivation for this one. I used Country Woods DSP. My card base is Misty Moonlight cardstock and the rectangles are mounted on a           4" x 5 1/4" piece of Basic White cardstock. I used a scrap of Basic White to cut my sentiment piece with an Unbounded Love die. I cut the leaves from Crumb Cake also with an Unbounded Love die and finished off the card with a Linen Thread bow.

This sample uses Wildly Flowering DSP, Wild Wheat card base and Basic White for the mat and the sentiment piece. The sentiment piece is cut using a Spotlight on Nature die. I used Thoughtful Wishes leave dies with Moody Mauve cardstock. Sequins and a Moody Mauve bow finished off the card.

This 3rd sample uses Unbounded Love DSP mounted on Basic White and on Peach Pie card base. The sentiment piece uses Shy Shamrock and Petunia Pop cardstock cut with Unbounded Love dies. The sentiment from Unbounded Love is stamped on Basic White.

This card is the one that I demonstrated on the Facebook Live or on YouTube. I used a Designer Series Paper that is not available for purchase but I really wanted to give this one a try. It is Countryside Rose, which was a reward for a Stampin' Up challenge for demonstrators.  I love the colors in this one. The cardbase is Melon Mambo as is the outer part of the label. The inside of the label is Petal Pink and the sentiment is from Spotlight on Nature. I use Petal Pink ribbon and In Color Petunia Pop gems. Be sure to watch the video to see the assembly of this simple card.
